Narrative of Significant Events
The Black Death in Italy that took place in 1384 was very significant to the history of Italy because after nearly one third of the population died due to transmitted diseases by fleas from infected rodents. After this terrible time in Italian history, a new chapter began known as the Renaissance. The Renaissance was a period of time where interest in art and literature increased dramatically. In addition to this increase in art, trade in Italy also became much more popular. This period was very important to history because the high talented art and agriculture taught Italians the power of looking into the past (such as the Black Death) for insights and inspirations of how to improve decisions of the future. After the Italian states became divided in the 1600s Italy experienced extreme diversity for the first time which later lead to a dramatic economic decline that lead the country into a recession. This recession increased poverty rates and problems with international trade. Once Italy came out of their recession and entered the enlightenment period, the power of church was reduced. This started a slow separation between church and state. Finally an increase in socialism hit Italy in the 1900s which allowed for common ownership in decisions on how various global resources were to be used.
