I think that the issues that take place in biodiversity and cultural diversity are very closely related for many reasons. The definition of biodiversity is essentially the variety of animals and plants located on earth and the geographical locations that go along with them. Cultural diversity can be defined as a variety of cultures that are present within a society. These are directly related because the resources within an area help define culture based on how the resources are used. Each type of diversity depends on each other, therefore if one type is threatened then so is the other. I do believe that governing bodies should be involved in protecting cultural diversities because they have funds that could potentially be used to help the environment of the region, which would also help the cultural diversity as well.
In the TED talk video it mentions how not all languages are taught today which is very said because those languages are cultural values that are being lost. Only older generations hold onto these languages instead of being potentially taught in classrooms. It is crucial for the government to realize that they need to assist these diversities because without additional assistance, this can cause potential harm for the culture of the country and even the society itself. Protecting cultural diversity is very important because Europe contains a large amount of historical value that is still very relevant today. If governing bodies can be actively involved in the country by providing funds towards things like education, I really do believe this would positively impact both biodiversity and cultural diversity.
However looking at the opposite side, giving the government this power could potentially be disastrous because they could abuse this power by taking over the diversities completely. By taking over the diversities completely and not have them naturally work themselves out could cause an unbalance in both biodiversity and cultural diversity. Although there is this potential situation, I still stand by the idea that the government should be actively involved. I think the positives of them being involved outweigh the negatives.
